Meet the Pros

Glenn Kelly, Head Golf Professional

Glenn joined the Club in 1985 as Assistant Golf Professional to long-time Head Golf Professional Dutch Wessner. He was promoted to Head Golf Professional within a year and earned his PGA status shortly afterwards. In addition to serving the Woods Hole Golf Club Membership for three decades, Glenn has served the professional side of golf, including a position as District Director of the PGA Cape Cod Chapter. In 2013, he received peer recognition when elected into the professionally prestigious Quarter Century Club of the PGA. Glenn is famous for his golf stories and love of the game, and enjoys the personal interaction with Members and guests that private and group lessons provide.  He loves to remind members that "there are no strangers at Woods Hole Golf Club, only friends you haven't met yet."

 


DeLayne Pascal,  Director of Instruction/Assistant Golf Professional

DeLayne joins Woods Hole as an experienced and accomplished LPGA Class A Professional who spent more than 20 years as Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction at Holly Ridge Golf Club, The Cape Club, and most recently at The Country Club of Fairfield, CT.  Her career has literally evolved from rocket science to golf after an initial career as a Product Manager on the Space Shuttle Program. DeLayne is passionate about the game but most especially about teaching the game and letting folks know that golf is not rocket science!  She brings an abundance of knowledge, experience, and humor to WHGC and looks forward to helping members with their game and overall golfing experience.


Zach Mahan, Assistant Golf Professional

Zach Mahan first started working in the golf industry as a high school student in 2008. He achieved Class A PGA Status in 2017, and he has been fortunate to work at some of the best clubs in the country (including a Golf Digest Top 10 course in the USA). As an instructor Zach was the youngest professional invited to both the 2018 and 2022 Northeast Regional Teacher of the Year roundtables hosted by GolfWeek Magazine. Zach’s philosophy as an instructor revolves around helping each golfer find the most efficient and repeatable full-swing that they can make, but his specialty is the short game. Golfers from ages 4 to 96 including first timers through NCAA golfers and players with PGA Tour starts have experienced success while working with Zach. As a player he has been experiencing recent success in NEPGA Events, he earned the first 2 wins of his career in 2021, and followed it up with 4 more wins in 2022. Originally from Leicester MA, Zach graduated from the Professional Golf Management program at Coastal Carolina University. He currently resides in Pembroke with his fiancé Amanda, and their dog Seve.

 


Wyatt Frazier,  Assistant Golf Professional
Wyatt began working for Woods Hole Golf Club in May of 2017. He is currently in his third season as Assistant Golf Professional. As an Associate of the PGA, Wyatt is progressing through the second stage of the PGM program.  Hailing from Cincinnati, Wyatt graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in their Sport Leadership and Management program. Wyatt was also a part of Miami’s club golf team, who participated in the national club golf tournament for his two years on the roster. Wyatt picked up the game at a young age and is continually developing his skills as both a player and as a teacher.  Wyatt has a knack for golf instruction, focusing on confidence and course management for all levels of golf.

Ryan Walsh, Superintendent

Ryan Walsh joins our club with a demonstrated history of creating tournament playing conditions. Through his tenure at the Hyannisport Club, Ryan has overseen an award-winning golf course restoration, construction of additional teeing locations, putting green renovations, as well as other golf course construction improvements that have enhanced daily playing conditions. Ryan has lived on Cape Cod since graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He currently resides in Centerville with his wife and three children. You will frequently see him out on the golf course with his Border Collie, Champ...Who loves chasing the geese and turkeys off the property! Now at the Woods Hole Golf Club, Ryan is taking his past experiences and implementing his turf-health practices to improve daily play-ability of the golf course. Strong leadership and team oriented professional skills have brought Ryan to Woods Hole while his passion for improving the golf course keeps him driven for future success. In February of 2018, Ryan has been asked to conduct a seminar at the National Convention for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.



Frank Carpenito, Senior Assistant Superintendent

As another example of long loyalty to this special Club, Frank began his superintendent career here in 1999. He has assisted Tom in several restoration projects; the installation of a complete irrigation system and the capital construction of a new driving range and two maintenance buildings. Frank holds bachelor degrees from Fitchburg State University and the University of Massachusetts, the latter degree in Plant and Soil Sciences. Frank is an active member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.


Patrick Smith, Assistant Superintendent

As the son of a superintendent, Pat grew up working on a golf course. He earned an associate’s degree in Turfgrass Management from The Stockbridge School of Agriculture and a bachelor's degree in Plant and Soil Science from The University of Massachusetts Amherst. He completed summer internships at The Quechee Club, Miacomet Golf Course, and Westchester Country Club. After graduating Pat spent four years as the 1st Assistant at Sands Point Golf Club on Long Island. While at Sands Point he worked with golf architect Keith Foster to complete an 18 hole restoration project. Pat is going into his fourth year at Woods Hole Golf Club and is excited for the 2020 season.


Tom Cassidy, Equipment Technician

In 1988, Tom and his family moved from Ireland to the United States and settled in the Falmouth area.  Tom came on staff at Woods Hole Golf Club in 1995.  Prior to Woods Hole Golf Club, he was employed at Sports Imports where he focused on antique auto restoration, auto repair and maintenance.  While still living in Ireland, Tom spent 4 year as a metal fabrication apprentice and another 4 years working as a metal fabricator in the manufacture of farm machinery.  Although much of his work at is done behind the scenes, Tom keeps the course vehicles in top shape and has a knack for fixing or fabricating just about anything.  He has lifelong interest in auto and motorcycle repair, woodwork and metalwork – self-taught in many of these areas.
